Can SSC CGL exam preparation help to prepare for BANK PO Exam or vice versa?

Candidates aspiring for Government jobs generally seek jobs in banking sector as well as Government Department sector through IBPS, SBI, RBI and SSC entrance exams. Once an individual is a graduate he or she has a number of options to get a job. According to the analysis done we have reached to the conclusion that IBPS PO and SSC CGL are the best career options. Both of them provide respectable jobs in our country.

Facilities and emoluments provided by Public sector jobs attract them the most. It is one of the biggest reasons that most of the candidates opt for both the exams at the same time. It is a good option as the syllabus of both the exams is almost similar. Therefore there is no harm in filling forms of both exams at the same time.

Let us compare these two exams as below:

SYLLABUS

In SSC CGL preliminary exam there are four sections such as:
  1. Logical Reasoning
  2. Quantitative Aptitude
  3. English Comprehension
  4. General Studies or General Knowledge
In IBPS PO Preliminary Exam these are three sections
  1. English
  2. Quantitative Aptitude
  3. Logical Reasoning
The only difference is that SSC CGL has General studies and current affairs which is not included in IBPS P.O. Syllabus
  1. QUESTION PATTERN:

Pattern of IBPS PO Preliminary Exam

2. Quantitative Aptitude 35 35
3. Reasoning Ability 35 35

Pattern of SSC CGL Preliminary Exam

General Intelligence and Reasoning 25 50
General Awareness 25 50
Quantitative Aptitude 25 50
English 25 50
Total 100 200

3. PRACTICE:

Practice required for both the exams is same. There is no compromise to hard work. Though syllabus of Quantitative Aptitude is vast for SSC CGL yet it needs same amount of practice to understand the topics thoroughly. There are some additional topics like Trigonometry, Algebra, Geometry, Coordinate Geometry, and many other topics that you don’t have to study at all in bank job examinations.

4. LEVEL OF DIFFICULTY:

Questions asked in Reasoning Section of SSC CGL exam are easy as compared to IBPS PO exam. In quantitative section, if we compare, then SSC CGL has difficult questions than IBPS PO. English section is complex in IBPS PO as most of the questions are comprehension based where as in SSC CGL English section is based on objective grammar. Bank demands understanding of the language and SSC demands basic knowledge of grammar rules from the students. Thus bank exam English section is difficult than SSC CGL Exam.

Looking into all the above factors it is recommended that one who opts for SSC CGL Online Coaching can always prepare for IBPS PO Exam also. There is a difference in exam pattern but the syllabus is almost same. Practice thoroughly and touch all types of questions i.e. easy as well as difficult, so that your preparation is streamlined to target both the exams.

The only MANTRA TO CRACK BOTH THE EXAMS IS ‘PRACTICE’, keep practicing to win the race.

All the best!!!!
